Top 3 Hairstyles for Transitioning to Curly Hair
Hey, hermanas! Recently we’ve gotten a lot of questions about tips to help with transitioning to naturally curly hair. Hairstyles are one of the things that helped us when we started our own journey. They are a great way to get creative with your curls while you learn more about your hair. With the sun shining and the days getting longer, it's a great season to let your natural curls have fun and be free.
There’s no perfect time to get started but we wanted to share our top three curly hairstyles to help you transition confidently this summer.
1. Sleek Low Bun: The sleek low bun is a classic and elegant hairstyle that works perfectly for any summer setting. Start by applying a smoothing serum or curl cream to tame frizz and add shine. Gather your curls into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck, smoothing down any flyaways with a soft-bristle brush. Twist the ponytail into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. For a polished finish, wrap a small section of hair around the base of the bun to hide the hair tie. Use bobby pins to accessorize if you want to add an extra touch of fun.
2. Curly Bubble Braids: Curly bubble braids are an easy hairstyle that adds a touch of playfulness to any look. Start by parting your hair into two sections. Gather your hair into a high or mid-height (depending which length you prefer) ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Take another hair tie and place it a few inches down from the first one, creating a "bubble" of hair between the ties. Continue this process down the length of the ponytail, spacing the hair ties evenly. Gently pull at the sections of hair between the ties to create a voluminous bubble effect. This hairstyle strikes the perfect balance between chic and playful, making it ideal for summer.
3. Defined Curl Ponytail: A defined curl ponytail is a stylish and effortless way to keep your curls looking polished during the summer. Begin by defining your curls with our curl cream or gel and let your hair air dry or use a diffuser. This hairstyle is also perfect for day 2,3 and 4. Once your curls are defined and dry, gather your hair into a mid-height ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Take a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the base to cover the hair tie, securing it with a bobby pin or use a satin or silk scrunchie to accessorize. This ponytail showcases your gorgeous curls while keeping you cool in the summer heat.
Embracing your natural curls during the summer is all about finding styles that enhance your hair's natural beauty while keeping things easy and fun.
These three hairstyles are perfect for transitioning or just trying new easy looks to enjoy your curls in their natural glory. If you’re looking for an easy list to follow as you start your curly journey, check out our previous blog post with 10 tips to start your curly hair journey.
