Absolutely NOT. We welcome all curly hair self-loving women (and men)  into our sisterhood of gorgeous curls. Our brand is inspired in the Dominican Republic, our hometown. However, as curly women we all face the same challenges and issues with our curls (most since childhood).  That's why we created Ocoa. We use a blend of Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate and Calcium Gluconate. Both Gluconolactone and Calcium Gluconate are derived from non-GMO corn and Sodium Benzoate is the salt of benzoic acid, although is synthetically derived, is a gentle alternative to formulations and acceptable for use across many natural standards.

Yes, we wanted to have a pleasant soft scent but making sure all of our scents were 100% Natural and Phthalates free. Our scent is based on a blend of tart grapefruit, sweet orange and sour lemon.

All of our formulas are vegan and cruelty free, tested only by other curly women just like you.

All of our formulas are plant based/vegan.

All of our formulas are gluten free.

Our curl cream and styling gel are not formulated with nuts or coconut ingredients. Our Shampoo  does include a surfactant that is coconut derived. Our conditioner has an ingredient that is coconut derived as well. We do not include coconut oil in any of our products. However, it is important to note, our products are manufactured in a facility that does use nuts and coconut ingredients. Everything is safely sanitized for each product but we cannot control cross contamination.

Each OCOA product has a 24 month shelf life when unopened. After opening our products it maintains freshness within 12 months.
