At OCOA, our Dominican heritage isn’t just a part of our story – it’s at the heart of everything we do. From the history behind our name to the vibrant colors that inspired our packaging, every detail is a celebration of nuestra tierra. In honor of Dominican Independence Day this month, we're recapping our Dominican Heritage Series from Instagram.

Did you know that our name is inspired by our mom’s hometown, San Jose de Ocoa, in the Dominican Republic (DR)? Growing up in DR and visiting Ocoa was one of the most joyful memories of us as sisters and as a family. The word Ocoa is from the indigenous Taino language, meaning “a place between mountains.” Its ease, beauty and spirit are what we want to share with you through our collection and our sisterhood. 

Our bilingual packaging reflects the beauty of our language and the connection to our roots. We take pride in sharing our culture with our familia, honoring where we come from with every product we create.
