June is National Caribbean-American Heritage Month. As a proudly Caribbean-founded brand, this is our time to pause, reflect, and loudly celebrate the vibrant history, profound resilience, and beautiful roots that shape exactly who we are. But before we talk about what this month means to us today, let’s take a look back at how it all started.

 

As I turn 34, I’m reflecting on a year that didn’t just grow my business—it grew me. From launching Ocoa Beauty into Ulta Beauty while pregnant to navigating postpartum changes with more grace than grind, this season has been about resilience in every form. It’s a story of building a brand, welcoming new life, and learning that strength isn’t just about pushing through—it’s about slowing down, trusting the process, and honoring the journey.

Since starting OCOA in 2018, I’ve learned that leaving the safe path can lead to the most rewarding journeys. From new motherhood to building a business from scratch, uncertainty became my greatest teacher.
